Coming this January, the Workforce Institute at San Jose City College will be offering a FREE training program for BIM.

What is BIM?
Building Information Modeling is the process of creating and using digital models for design, construction
and/or operations of projects.
Why use BIM?
Change can be bad - at least during construction when change orders cause project delays and budget woes. The construction industry is poised to take the leap - the leap to Building Information Modeling (BIM), which is the future of the design and construction industry as it saves significant time and resources.
- BIM can be used to demonstrate the entire building life cycle of a building including processes of design, construction, and facility operation.
- BIM requires strategic re-thinking of design/build processes and production to achieve the three-part goal of better, faster and cheaper - and ultimately greener buildings
- BIM is not just about learning software but about creating an entire cultural change both within individual firms and throughout entire building sector teams. BIM is 20 per cent software and 80 percent people working together.
- BIM is required to respond to rising client demand; as leverage for a competitive edge; and as a tool for greater efficiency, project delivery, and coordination.
Why do you need BIM training?
Moving to a BIM culture - changing the way work gets done - becomes easier once an organization embraces the BIM workflow model. Collaboration is key, and the ROI is huge. But "going BIM" takes a lot of up front time, organization, and commitment.
Help, however, for becoming a BIM organization has arrived! The Workforce Institute is offering FREE training to professionals currently employed in the design and building industry. Two different courses will be offered:
So go ahead - leap into BIM training while classroom seats are still available. Free training ends June 30, 2010.
